NORTHERN MICHIGAN: LAKE MICHIGAN ICE CAVES

In winter, 2014, northern michigan and particularly Lake Michigan experienced a deep freeze, or polar vortex. Out of that came some eye popping ice formations all throughout the lakeshore. you may have heard of lake michigan ice caves, i might also add, football fields of ice, ice balls, ice cliffs (some 30 feet high), caverns, tunnels, icebergs and so on.  Some of these photo's were taken at some hallmark destinations and villages such as glen arbor, point betsie lighthouse, frankfort pier, elberta beach, old baldy near arcadia and the sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore.
